this covers the hole but it’s really obstructive and ruins the aesthetic of the bowl
I’m considering making a decoy bowl now

All cats ruin the aesthetics if it doesn’t revolve around them.

related: aesthetic cat bed that has only been used 2 times in the past 2 years. they prefer to sleep in Amazon boxes

@pancakeke you should put the amazon box inside the aesthetic cat bed. Maybe they’ll be more inclined to use it that way

if this works I will lose my damn mind

if ur worried about your content going on this-isnt-magic or modernwitchtips then maybe don’t share your practice on the internet till you know it’s legit

‘Until it’s legit’ but …like okay, that’s such an open-ended stipulation though?

Besides that, having looked at this-isn’t-magic when it first got started, seems like a lot of the mods over there are either coming from a perspective of chaos magic, or else a young UBarWyTCH who thinks because they’ve been practicing since they were 16 they’re suddenly an authority on what constitutes ‘real magic’ and what doesn’t. The thing I haven’t heard anyone bring up yet is the difference(s) between 1) Sympathetic Magic (in which you designate something as something else and work magic on it that way) 2) Folk Magic and Hearthcraft, 3) Pop Culture Magic and 4) Entity creation. Literally these are some of the categories I’ve seen them say aren’t ‘magic’, like someone tracing sigils and intent into their food while they’re cooking. Newsflash: that’s magic, because that’s what it’s intended to be. If you intend a practice or an action to be magical, I’m of the opinion that it is.

So blogs like this-isn’t-magic cater to these elitist ‘you have to have LuNAR elaborate RytUal during the third full moon of the year at three PM when jupiter is ascending past the third quarter and you have to be outside skylad walking widdershins at a crossroads in a circle’ bullshit. Firstly, not everyone has time for that-nor do they practice that way, nor is it always safe to. Not everyone can afford to have an awesome wand made of 100 year old rowan wood; some people have to settle for a fuking pixie stick they got at Party City. Especially a lot of younger, poorer witches or witches that may be in the closet. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

‘If you don’t want this-isn’t-magic to get ahold of your spells GIT GUD’ is … frankly ridiculous. My first spells were done at the kitchen table when my parents weren’t home with a dollar store tealight and some fukin’ dill and sage. And you know what? Of course it didn’t work, because I was new to it, but it was part of the learning process because I didn’t understand things like intent and willpower and other powers either; like divine power, elemental power, ect ect. The key component to a practice? Study. Learning. and, again, intent.

I’m about to be 35 and I’ve been a practicing witch literally since I was 12/13. When I turned 16 I was classically mentored by a huge and well-known coven in San Francisco with a lot of elder witches from across a broad spectrum of traditions. So if you want a ‘witch’, I’m right fucking here…

… And I’m here to tell all the witches that follow me and will follow me that you do spells and magic however you’re able and with whatever power and intent and focus works for you. And don’t be afraid to share them if that’s what you’re called to do, just because a few trolls can’t handle ease, accessibility, and yes, even fun in the craft.  Own your practice; witchcraft is about personal power, and you rock yours, and fuck what other people have to say about it.

i mean i don’t disagree w all this, i can just see both sides of the whole “witchcraft should be accessable” vs “witchcraft should take effort” debate. but like if you don’t wanna get shit on here, don’t post it unless ur ready to defend it

I can see both sides too; that doesn’t mean that I think everyone who posts a spell someone doesn’t agree with should be totally shit on. There’s a huge difference between constructive criticism and just being a total turd sandwich. And in my experience when it comes to critique of spell writing, there’s more of the latter than the former.

If you want to see ‘good’ witchblr, and if you’re going to complain that the spells, rituals, or magic practices aren’t up to your standard, then it’s going to take more effort than ‘your shit sucks lol not real majick’. Either take on the responsibility of actually helping people get better and be productive, or just sit down and shut the fuck up. There’s enough turds in the punch bowl at the tumblr party without anyone adding to the problem. If you’re not going to be a part of the solution and you’re just going to be a troll, you’re just contributing to afore mentioned shit show.

It’s not even about just helping people and learning… it’s about who gets to decide what is real/good magic.

I’ve been practicing for nearly two decades, have I seen stuff on witchblr that is completely foreign to me? Yes. Have I seen things that I would never include in my practice? Sure.

Do my two decades of experience in hearth craft (with a dabbling in formal Wicca at the beginning) give me the right to not only determine that these other kinds of magic are invalid, but to belittle and talk down to those who practice it? Absofuckinglutely not.

Fuck that bullshit blog, and fuck anyone who participates in it.

What @lastxleviathan and @madamehearthwitch said

Thanks @madamehearthwitch for making that point :3

I mean you kinda made it already in your first post ❤ I just wanted to hone in on it more, because for myself personally… I think that’s really the key issue. More than just that bullshit blog, it’s a problem across the board on witchblr that I  have seen.

No one gets to decide what witchcraft looks like for anyone else. Especially not in a random troll on the internet situation.

“witchcraft should be accessible” vs “witchcraft should take effort”

It’s also really important to always remember that your effort doesn’t look the same as someone else’s effort.

Not every witches is gonna have access to the same tools and supplies as you. Not every witch is gonna have the same amount of energy and time to dedicate to their craft as you.

For me, as someone who’s suffers with a number of ailments, doing a simple spell takes a lot of energy out of me. I know it might sound ridiculous to someone else who has the energy to do an hour long ritual but I just don’t have that energy (or time).

Knowing it’s “legit” has nothing to do with it because these strangers online are not the keepers of witchcraft and they don’t determine what is legit or not. The only thing they can determine is what they would include in their own personal practice and what they wouldn’t. But these people are not experts, no matter how much they claim to be (if they claim to be).

I didn’t know we had like a Magic Council where we gotta get our Magic License to magic correctly, fuck man. Does anyone know how to schedule a hearing with the Magic Council so I can make sure my practice is legit??

(Honestly no shade, I’m just tired of people talking about legitimacy as though we have tools to measure that with. It’s magic, yo.)

Actually, we decided @godswalkwithher is now the Witch Pope. I’m a Witch Bishop, and as such it is my duty to spread the papal decrees, namely;

1. If you don’t like a spell someone else posts online, just don’t use it and go find one or make one you do like!

2. If you come up with a spell that works for you, huzzah! It’s officially a Legit Spell! If other people don’t like it, by papal decree they can shove off!

3. If you’re magicking shit, congrats! You’re magicking correctly! Doesn’t matter how you’re doing it, you’re doing fine!

But for real, some people just like to be judgmental assholes, far as I can tell.

WAIT WHAT CRAP WHAT’D I DO???

OH…. oh.
Oh yeah.

Yeah, no, what she said. Do you witch? Congrats! By papal decree, you’re witching right. Everybody that says otherwise can fuck right off.

Pax.

It’s National Honey Bee Day!

Over the last 15 years, reports and studies
have shown a significant drop in the number of bee
colonies
that are now vanishing from our gardens.

Kimberly Stoner, associate agricultural
scientist with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven,
explained that Bombus affinis, the
rusty-patched bumble bee, “disappeared before anyone knew it was gone.”

However, today, we want to celebrate the beloved
bee by taking a look at the seven stages of a bee’s work.

@helpicantthinkofaurl

I apologize for lashing out. One of my players threw themselves in acid after they were fully aware it was in fact acid. I did not and still do not know how to deal with that.

In the very first D&D game that I ever played, our party was standing right outside the entrance to a dungeon. Part of the area was covered in a red energy field. Inside the red energy field, all of the grass was dead, and right on the border between the area inside the energy field and outside of it, there was a collection of dead animals, insects, and other forest creatures. As we watched, a little bunny came hopping up, hopped into the red energy field, and, the moment that it entered the field, instantly dropped dead.

Guess what one of our players decided to do next. Take a wild fuckin guess.
