It’s an extremely popular opinion among middle and upper class white people.
Also, aside from this completely uneducated reasoning as to why minimum wage was created…
I can guarantee that there are tens of thousands of teenagers who have to pay bills and help support their families or are the only financial supporter to their family.
not to mention, if minimum wage was meant solely for high school students how would the business survive when students are in school?? are they only supposed to be open on the weekend? this “unpopular opinion” makes no sense.
Unpopular fact: in the 70s a minimum wage worker could pay for college with a summer job.
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was conceived to be the minimum amount of money a person would need to support themselves and their families when working 40 hours per week.
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was created because working men and women in this nation fought–figuratively in the negotiating room and literally in the streets–for a fair working wage, with sweat and blood and tears and death.
Unpopular fact: military service personnel are not the only people who have fought and died for your rights as American: labor leaders and common workers laid down their lives so that you could have a 40 hour work week instead of 80 hours; so you could have a 2 day weekend instead of none; so you could have lunch and bathroom breaks instead of going hungry and shitting your pants,; so you could have a three day weekend in September.
Capitalism would NEVER dole out basic human decency without literal human sacrifice.
half of fic research is rereading the fandom wiki four times for obscure character info and the other half is googling shit like “when did we start using drywall in home construction”
“Well, I can confirm that that is Brad Pitt,” Reynolds said. “I still don’t even know how we got him for the movie. I just wrote him a letter, and explained what it was we were doing. And the sort of premise behind it was how do we, what’s the most wasteful way to use the biggest movie star in the world? And it was through a character that is largely invisible and worthless throughout the movie. And then just having him show up for eight frames of footage. And I guess Brad found that funny, we all found that funny. And he said, yes. And the next thing you know he came and shot for about seven minutes. It took him longer to drink the coffee that he requested as payment.”
Holy shit I’m crying
I’m thinking maybe Brad was up for some fun in his life around then.
What a legend

If you’re a Norse heathen and believe that “race mixing” is bad
- remember that many of the gods are born from interracial pregnancies between the Aesir, Vanir, and Jotunns.
If you’re a Norse heathen and are transphobic or homophobic
- remember that many of the gods will alter their forms drastically, the most notable being Loki changing into mare and being impregnated by a male horse, and later giving birth to Sleipnir
If you’re a Norse heathen and fascist
- remember that vikings were largely democratic and would regularly hold votes to decide legal matters, and were incredibly accepting of other cultures
Re-blogging this for the Nazi who just started following me ❤
Great post, I feel the same way @danishheathen !
If you’re a Norse heathen and believe that excluding people with disabilities is fine
- remember that all deities deserve the same respect, even the disabled like for example Hödur
if you’re a Norse heathen and think being misogynist is cool
- remember how Freyja would slay you, how Skadi insisted on her revenge
If you’re a Norse heathen and think people with disabilities don’t deserve the gods:
Tyr is missing a hand asshole
Time to share this again!
Wow, it finally hit 5,000 notes!
Not to mention Odin is missing an eye, and also went on transgender sexual exploits.
In any case, as far as the disabled are concerned, let’s turn to Havamal, shall we?
Now granted, people have translated Havamal in so many ways, although often the ultimate meaning is intact. Anyway, verse 71 says:
The halt can manage a horse,
the handless a flock,
The deaf be a doughty fighter,
To be blind is better than to burn on a pyre:
There is nothing the dead can do.This may be referring specifically to warfare, but the main point is still discernable: so long as one is living, they still can play a part in this world. And let’s not forget that the book is ultimately a guide on how to be a welcoming, kind person, while not tolerating injustice (although admittedly, verse 75 is a bit sketchy, as is the distrust of women. It’s a product of its time.)
In conclusion, Nazis are asshats, and we should be kind to people except them.
Reblogging again for good points.
And among the many interracial gods, Odin and Thor themselves are mixed race, as their mothers were Jötnar (Ice Giants).
If you’re a Norse heathen and dislike transvestites, may I remind you of the time Heimdall and Loki talked Thor into wearing drag.
Multiple Gods. No Masters.
Once more with feeling, so Jojo Moyes and the gang behind “Me before you” can hear it:
The halt can manage a horse,
the handless a flock,
The deaf be a doughty fighter,
To be blind is better than to burn on a pyre:
There is nothing the dead can do.tl;dr no you can’t use ~~mythology~~ to justify abhorrent views, you hats of rectal origin.
(even if it was accurate it would still be terrible but it’s also incorrect)
This made me think of @lady-feral.
Look, I’m a crippled brain-damaged bi guy who was born nine weeks early, after hanging/strangling on his umbilical cord. I’m an Odinsman, Study the lore, and I’ve got all the right signs for it. I’m a storyteller, writer, published poet.,
If you’re disabled in any way, please, understand that the Norse Gods will still welcome you to the fire.
Young and alone on a long road,
Once I lost my way:
Rich I felt when I found another;
Man rejoices in man,A kind word need not cost much,
The price of praise can be cheap:
With half a loaf and an empty cup
I found myself a friend,Not a heathen, but if any followers are…please read this…and stay away from @pagansuncensored because it is a shitshow right now
Most Norse deities are disabled. Hell, Odin, who is probably the most well known except for arguably Thor? Both disabled. Norse gods are incredibly human in that they are flawed in character and body, just like we are. So anyone who isn’t on board with accepting others but claims to follow Norse deities? I call bullshit.
If you’re using Norse symbols and you’re a white supremacist, you literally deserve Mjölnir to the face. Literally the most accepting belief system and you’re using it as a position of hate, step off your high horse and you’re weird interpretations and kindly fuck off.

How Neville was “the chosen one”
http://daily-harry-potter.tumblr.comHoly shit. Couldn’t have said it better myself…
I don’t know if I heard this somewhere or if it was all me, but Harry Potter was the Chosen One. Neville Longbottom, on the other hand, was the one who chose.
He could have backed out, he could have backed down, he could have taken his parents’ fate as a warning and made himself small and unimportant. And with his magical prowess, that might have been the smartest thing for him to do. But he didn’t. He chose to protect others, to live up to his parents’ legacy, to make them proud. He chose, and he became a hero in his own right. And I think that’s just as important as him being ‘chosen’, if not more.
And quite frankly we should have seen this coming when he stood up to Harry, Hermione and Ron for the first time and was recognized by Dumbledore for it.
In class we were talking about how cats teach themselves to hunt around their collar bells, and this dude followed that up with “well you know how Santa has those reindeer covered in those bells, right?”
and what he going for was “the bells on cat collars are the same that reindeer are pictured wearing”
But what *I* heard was “Santa’s Reindeer are predator animals that are covered in bells for our protection” and let me tell you I did not appreciate that.
Just hear those slay bells jingling.
