I wonder how many lackluster characters/entire stories have gotten a free ride here on tumblr since a lot of ppl here are kind of creative types who filled in all the gaps with their own headcanons and convinced themselves the source material was good without realizing they’d done the writer’s job for them?
#that’s more or less everything popular tbh#(apart from stuff like atla)#bc it’s hard to generate fan content for a series that’s more or less perfect and doesnt have any holes to pull at#if it’s completely satisfying then people don’t really feel the need to play with it
True, there are series I love that I have a hard time creating content for because there’s generally no holes to poke at and exploit.
It’s the dichotomy of fandom: Great works you want everyone to enjoy don’t have very many talking points, leading to low fan content- Popular stuff that everybody enjoys has so many problems the fandom has to fix it themselves, thus generating more content.
