Are you telling me Hiccup learned all that sword dancing thing to train dragons from Viggo like I am so mad right now this is not what I expected ughhh
Okay, but I really liked that aspect? And it felt natural. Like, Viggo is portrayed as ruthless and he watched Hiccup go out and befriend these things he’s always known to be violent and dangerous. He was amazed. Ever since Hiccup and Viggo met they’ve been learning and growing from one and other. Hiccup made his first dragon blade and used that to calm dragons. Viggo took it one step further and added the gas chamber. And when Hiccup sees it, he sees that it works. So he adapts his, and improves it. Viggo is a villain, but he’s also been a mentor to Hiccup and Hiccup knows that. He even says it’ll be weird not having Viggo around anymore after he finally dies. Viggo has had an obsession with Hiccup ever since they met. He knew Hiccup was smart and he liked that. He saw Hiccup as a challenge, something he hadn’t really had for a while. He went out of his way to let Hiccup in on some things, he met up with him several times just to tell him things and was pleased when he saw through it to what he was really doing. And when they had to work together (begrudgingly) they were a very formidable team. They worked well together. I kinda feel like Viggo felt like Hiccup was the son he never had. He enjoyed fighting with Hiccup to the point he equates it to playing a game. Sure they’re on opposite sides, but they respected and learned from each other. Hiccup learning such important lasting tricks and tips from Viggo, who learned them from Hiccup first felt like natural progression to me.
