Dude went from “i marry my cousin” to “i keep my cousin locked in basement”

“I hate niggers!” Vs “Unfortunately, you do not meet the requirements
for this job/ admission to this institution/ qualifying for this home
loan”

From “the south shall rise again” to “I lobby to keep kids from poorer districts out of my school zone”

Welcome to Election Day

Hey, Statesiders, you have been and will be seeing tons of posts and ads about voting, about the importance of voting, about the necessity of voting, and those are all right and true.

However

Before you vote and after you vote, today, be alert and aware of your surroundings, pay a little more attention than usual, maybe leave the headphones out while you’re in public places. Not just when you’re waiting to vote or leaving the booth – the whole day. Yes, even after the polls close. In fact, especially after the polls close, because after the polls close is also after the drinking has begun.

Historically, and not just in the US, election days have been times of conflict and often that conflict has led to violence. Especially if you are in a red region that’s possibly going to flip blue (looking at you, Texas), even if it’s just your local county or ward, be fucking careful today.

If something looks shady, go around. If shit starts getting real, run away. Unless you know how to fight or de-escalate or you’re willing to get your ass kicked (or shot) so someone else doesn’t, which are all valid reasons to sail into a fight, keep your eyes up and your head down.

Pay attention and know when to get the fuck out.

Go to work, go to school, go run errands, go and vote, change the world. Go to a rally, go to a vigil. Don’t be afraid. Just be careful today.

Today we get to vote for the wholeness of America, the beautiful sum of our many different parts. We get to choose moving forward together and taking care of peoples health. We vote for an America for all of us; every color, every creed, every gender and every way that people choose to express their love.

You can still volunteer to help #GOTV for Swing Left still has lots of ways to help. Right now you can make calls for Dana Balter in NY-24, Danny O’Connor in OH-12, and Connor Lamb in PA-17 here.

Let’s bring this thing home.
