theres a new product by verzion called “hum” that allows your parents to track your car and places you go, if your parents are controlling like mine please check under your steering wheel to make sure that they havent installed this
here is what it looks like installed:
you can read more about it here, and here– this excerpt sums up what information Hum will send:
“a car’s owner will be able to get notified on their phone when the vehicle leaves a pre-determined area or drives faster than a set speed… [Hum] will enable location tracking and a driving log, which measures travel times, engine idle times, and average speeds.”
People in abusive relationships, please check your cars.
DO NOT TRY TO UNPLUG IT BY YOURSELF!
To add to this nightmare, I’ve just heard of a thing called ForceField where people get to monitor and block internet sites that you’re going on if they don’t approve.
It tells the user what sites/apps you’re going on, for how long you’re on them, and WHERE YOU ARE ON AN UPDATING MAP.
So you know if you’re in an abusive household and use sites like tumblr to escape and talk to friends, you could be cut off from that.
They say “it’s not spyware” but it sure sounds controlling and creepy to me.
signalboost
God. Fuck. That’s scary.
Life 360 is another tracker. My parents have used it on me, not allowing me to delete it from my phone, and sometimes even demanding selfies to prove I was where the map said. (As if I’d go anywhere without my phone)
SpectorPro is another one. Afaik it can’t track location, but it takes screenshots roughly every 20sec to allow the installer to watch a video of your computer activity. It also tracks all keystrokes, so passwords aren’t safe, and records any website you visit + the duration. It’s incredibly creepy and a huge violation of privacy, and was one of the cornerstones of my abuse as a kid.
even if you’re not in an abusive relationship/family, please spread this because you might have just saved someone’s life
There’s this guy that sits in front of me who you would think is a conservative redneck bc his entire aesthetic is southern lumberjack w boots and denim and hats but he’s actually one of the most inclusive and anti trump guy I’ve ever met and today he wore this hat that sums up his entire personality and I’m screaming.
Don’t judge a book by its cover; make cornbread, not war.
*******PLEASE DON’T LEAVE DISHES OF SUGAR WATER OUT*******
Post from a beekeeper
Oh dear – I keep hearing tips about leaving bowls of sugar water out to “help” keep bees hydrated. Please, please, please DON’T. Bees are really good at finding what they need and there are so many reasons not to do this. The MOST IMPORTANT reason is that if you within 3 miles of some hives (and most people are) if the bees find the sugar water they’re going to think its a great source of easy food, go back to the hive and recruit more bees to come and collect the “food” and before you know it you’ll have 1.000s and 1,000s of bees descending on your garden/balcony – a very scary sight. This is known as robbing and as beekeeper I’ve seen this a couple of times – once started it is impossible to stop until the source of the “food” has gone.
Other reasons not to do this are – sugar water is essentially “junk” food for bees. Its full of carbohydrates which will give them an energy burst, but has no other nutritional value unlike the food they should be having i.e. nectar.
Honey bees will store this as honey in the hive. The beekeeper unknowingly may end up extracting and selling this as honey later in the year. You don’t want to buy sugar syrup and the beekeeper doesn’t want to be prosecuted for selling a product which isn’t honey.
This is also an easy food source for social wasps.
By all means give a tired bee a drink of sugar water on a spoon, but please don’t leave it out for them.
If you want to help bees there are lots of ways you can do this from planting nectar rich plants or leaving out bowls of water with gravel/small pebbles in so they can access the water which they would be very grateful for.
PLEASE SHARE THIS AND TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS
Edited – It appears that a lot of the advice I have seen about leaving out sugar water stems from advice from DAVID ATTENBOROUGH. He was absolutely right in his advice, but his advice was if you see a struggling bee to put some sugar water where the bee could reach it – not to leave out bowls of sugar water. Unfortunately it seems like, as usual, media publications have misquoted advice and not done their research
Also please don’t feed bees honey. Surprisingly they don’t eat honey – they eat nectar. Honey bees make honey for their own use during the winter months, but bumble bees collect and use nectar as and when they need it.
Feeding honey can spread disease between bees.

YO THIS!
If you want to help bees, grow flowers if you can, and leave out bee watering stations with plain ol’ water in them!
Sometimes you read tumblr and realize that the only reason some of the people on here aren’t Kathy Bates in “Misery” is because their favorite content creator hasn’t had a car crash outside their house
If you’re wondering what the hell this reference is and you don’t wanna google it:
“Misery” was the story of an author who, just after he’d made plans for the next book in his long-running series to be his last and was driving with the manuscript in his car, ends up crashing and nearly dying.
He wakes up in a stranger’s bed in a stranger’s house and a woman who’s smiling like she’s being jabbed by a Disney employee with a cattle prod tells him she’s his biggest fan and begs to read his manuscript. He’s got a lot of broken bones and he’s going to be there a while, so sure, why not?
And she reads it.
And she finds out her favorite character dies.
And she is Not Happy.
And she forces this man to write a new version of the story, under pain of torture. Literal torture–at one point, she deliberately re-breaks his foot so he can’t leave, after politely explaining what “hobbling” is.
That story was not meant to be taken as the warning it is about insane fans who way overstep their bounds in terms of what they want out of the thing they’re a fan of, but it is now.
Most of the fans who flip their shit at content creators over how those creators steer their content will probably only stop at screaming at the creator for a while.
